Content and Branding Marketing with Photography

Photography is very important for successful business marketing. It is not surprising that photography plays such a vital part in marketing because good visuals are directly tied to successful marketing. A large part of Brett’s job is helping companies, especially in Roanoke and Raleigh, to effectively market their products and their business through quality photography.  Because visual content is priority for marketers, photographers can help these marketers achieve their goals. Especially in fields where there is a lot of competition, visual content such as pictures can make a significant difference in the success and outcome of individual businesses. In this blog post, I want to look at why visuals can have so much impact on a business.

Why use pictures instead of just text?

Because the majority of people in the world are visual learners, pictures can have much more impact than text.  Pictures will instantly grab someone’s attention whereas text will take a different level of thought process and brain power to translate that type of information. “When people hear information they’re likely to remember only 10% of that information three days later. However, if a relevant image is paired with that same information, people retained 65% of the information three days later.” (Mawhinney) Because pictures are much more visually interesting than text, it should be used frequently to catch people’s attention.  For instance, when using social media, pictures will boost your influence to your target audience.

“Articles with images get 94% more views than those without.” (Gibbs)

“Tweets with images receive 150% more retweets than tweets without images.” (Mawhinney)

“Facebook posts with images see 2.3 times more engagement than those without images.” (Mawhinney)

“Visual content is more than 40 times more likely to get shared on social media than other types of content.” (Gibbs)

When it comes to actual images of the product you are marketing, the quality of your photography, especially for online marketing, is directly related to the number of sales for your product. “67% of consumers say the quality of a product image is very influential in their decision to purchase online.” (Gibbs) 74% of social media marketers use visual assets in their social media marketing, ahead of blogs (68%) and videos (60%).  (Mawhinney)

All these numbers should help convince you that photography and even just visual content in general plays a vital role in marketing. Because new visuals are needed all the time for marketing, photographers can help these marketers reach their goals.
