Perception in Photography

I recently had the opportunity to speak to two different groups. I used the same concept and idea for both. “PERCEPTION!!!” It’s an amazing thing how people view anything and everything. At the soul of photography lies perception. As photographers, we see light and people and scenery in special ways and can manipulate these things into something awesome. It’s not only in photography either. Perception applies to your entire life. You want people to see you as a good person, so you do good deeds. You want your business to be respected. So you run a respectable business. You don’t put yourself in a bad situation, because you don’t want people to think badly of you. It’s pretty easy. So open your eyes and snap some photos in your head. Or even better, use your iPhone and make something happen. It’s all in how you perceive the world around you.
